Copying volumes to disks

For copying volumes to media, do the following.

  1. open the copy volumes pane on the Volumes page:

  2. Select “copy volumes to disks” from the left pane:

  3. Now you have to specify which volumes you want copy to which disk(s). For this, select “Show disks”:

    Figure A list of available writeable media (disks) will show up in the right pane. Select which disks you want to use.
  4. For specifying the desired volumes, you have several options:
    1. Pick volumes manually from the catalogue in the right pane:

    2. Apply a previously specified filter (see the section on Filters how to do this)
    3. Pick all volumes listed in the catalogue in the right pane
  5. The selected volumes will be copied to the specified disks as soon as you click “OK”:

  6. You can abort the operation at any time by clicking “close”.

The Resource Manager will now fill media disks with volumes, starting with the largest disk. Volumes will be copied to a disk until is capacity is exhausted, then the next-largest disk will be filled. In other words, the Resource Manager minimizes the number of disks by filling the largest disks first.
